PHOTOGRAPHY comes from the French photographie which is based on the Greek φ?ς (phos) "light" + γραφ?ς (graphis) "stylus", "paintbrush" or γραφ? (graphê) "representation by means of lines" or "drawing", together meaning "drawing with light.
